Creating a functional and high-quality architecture that adds value to the area was important in the renovation and expansion of K-Supermarket Hertta which re-opened in November 2017 in the Herttoniemi area in Helsinki, Finland. “The City wants to improve the architectural style of the area, as more apartment buildings will be built and other urban construction will take place near the store in the coming years as well,” says Architect Mika Koskela.
Cembrit Patina was chosen for the facade especially due to its appearance. “The building has large facades, so the liveliness of the surface was a starting point for us from the very early stages – we did not want a completely smooth surface”, explains Koskela. In addition to the light gray Patina, colorful profile sheet metal was utilized.
